The stronger-than-expected jobs data was taken into account by investors on Friday as they continued to worry that the Federal Reserve's rapid rate hikes may cause the economy to enter a recession.
Markets were mostly higher in volatile trading, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite up 0.1 percent, the S&P 500 down 0.1 percent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.2 percent, or less than 100 points.
In June, the U.S. economy created 372,000 new jobs, which was more than the 250,000 experts had predicted but less than the revised estimate of 384,000 jobs created in May.
Currently, the markets are putting in a chance of almost 95% that the Fed will raise interest rates by 75 basis points later this month.
