200,000 Ford SUVs and hybrid vehicles are being recalled due to potential engine fires

Following 21 incidents of under-hood fires, including five since its last recall in May and 18 in vehicles owned by rental firms, Ford recalled over 100,000 hybrid vehicles and added 66,221 of its Expedition and Navigator SUVs to its list of recalled vehicles in May.
The automaker said in a statement issued on Friday that the problem can be attributed to circuit boards from a new supplier that are "uniquely prone" to short-circuiting.
Ford did not urge drivers to cease driving their recalled vehicles, only to park them outside and away from buildings while they looked into the origin of the fires.
Ford said that the remaining vehicles with 700-watt cooling fan systems can anticipate replacements as early as September, while about one-third of the recalled vehicles with 800-watt cooling fan systems can have replacement battery parts fitted right away at a dealership.
