European Union committee has approved USB-C as a standard charging connector |
An EU committee has virtually unanimously approved the making of USB-C the European region's standard charging connectorconnector.
This is not a final decision; the directive must be approved by the European Parliament. In May, during the plenaryplenary session, we'll find out.
The directive's legislative ratification will enable USB-C to become a single port for charging devices by 2024.
In 2024, the EU committee wants explicit labeling on product packaging and kit informationinformation.
Except for smartwatchessmartwatches, all devices will have a single port.
