The world's longest undersea power cable will be built by Sun Cable, which is backed by Australian billionaires Mike Cannon-Brookes and Andrew Forrest. To raise A$30 billion ($21 billion), Sun Cable has appointed Macquarie Capital and Moelis & Co. as joint financial advisers.

The 4,200-kilometer undersea cable, known as the Australia-Asia PowerLink, will transport electricity produced by Sun Cable's solar farm in Australia's Northern Territory to Darwin by 2027 and to Singapore two years later.

The main supporters of Sun Cable, which is building a solar farm in the Australian deserts of the Northern Territory, are Forrest and Cannon-Brookes.

The project, which promises to generate up to 20 gigawatts of electricity, is advertised as the largest solar electricity generating facility in the world. It also has a battery that has a 42 gigawatt-hour capacity for electricity storage.
