A serious flaw discovered in the Linux kernel allows anyone to rewrite any file in the system
Linux Rewrite |
The most dangerous Linux kernel vulnerability in recent years has been discovered by CM4all researchers (CVE-2022-0847).
An unprivileged user can overwrite the contents of any file using "Dirty Pipe."
The vulnerability can be leveraged to integrate malware, create unauthorised accounts, and modify scripts and binaries used by privileged services and applications, among other things.
Initially, the researchers were trying to solve a problem with files transferred over the network on a Linux client computer being corrupted on a regular basis.
They eventually discovered that the corrupted files were caused by a Linux kernel issue.
