The combined fortune of the 50 richest people in Thailand, as listed by Forbes in 2022, decreased by over 6% from the previous year to US $151 billion amid a sluggish economic recovery.
The top three richest people are the same as they were in 2017. The Chearavanont brothers, whose wealth has decreased by $3.7 billion, the largest decrease in monetary terms, to $26.5 billion, remain at the top of the list.
Chalerm Yoovidhya's fortune, which he shares with his family, increased by $1.9 billion as sales of the energy drink Red Bull continued to soar worldwide. He has a $26.4 billion net worth and is currently in second place. Only twelve people on the list were privy to their fortune.
With $11.2 billion, down $1.5 billion from the previous year, Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, whose commercial empire includes Thai Beverage, maintains its third-place position.
