 An archaeologist who had been excavating on Catalina Island in California for almost ten years:

"Irrefutable proof that 3,000 years ago, light-skinned, fair-haired individuals of tremendous stature resided on Catalina Island." These skeletons, he claims, belonged to humans who stood between 210 and 270 cm tall.

This isn't the first or only allegation that giants formerly resided in this area. A. Fürstenan, a German doctor, discovered a 240 cm tall human skeleton on Catalina Island in 1913.
