Using a neurochip, a disabled man can operate a race car

Thanks to a microchip, Alden Zuniga, a disabled German man, is able to "push" the gas and maintain a constant speed. An electrode on the microchip detects the electrical potentials of the brain, which is how data is sent to a little computer in the automobile. A unique helmet that records your head motions assists with steering, and if you blow into a tube that's been placed in your mouth, it will slow down the vehicle.

 


One of the researchers stated, "Our goal is not to turn spinal cord damage patients into racers, but to adapt this approach to more commonplace scenarios."

 


People with impairments should be able to use an electric wheelchair, a robotic arm, an exoskeleton, and different implants as a result of the experience.
