Basic information about Ethernet

The Ethernet standard is exclusive to the construction of LANs (Local Area Networks). Contrary to its larger sibling, the WAN (Wide Area Network), widely known as the World Wide Web, a LAN is compact. The local network is present in any compact space, including your home and workplace. One of the primary characteristics of Ethernet is the local network.

One crucial distinction: Ethernet only applies to wired networks.

The most prevalent cable at the moment is UTP category 5. (CAT 5). You could wonder: Why UTP? We respond, "Unshielded Twisted Pair," or unshielded twisted pair in Russian. Ethernet and Fast Ethernet work quite well over Category 5 cable.

You will need to upgrade to faster technologies like Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
