Centaurus A is located only 11 million light-years away.

The strange elliptical galaxy NGC 5128, which spans over 60,000 light-years, is also known as NGC 5128.

Centaurus A's amazing jumble of newborn blue star clusters, pinkish star formation areas, and intimidating dark dust lanes, forged in the collision of two otherwise typical galaxies, is shown in remarkable detail here.

The vibrant galaxy portrait is made up of images from both space and ground-based telescopes of various sizes.

Leftover cosmic debris around the galaxy's center is being steadily absorbed by a supermassive black hole with a billion times the mass of the Sun.
