Regarding Elizabeth Holmes' new reality—life in prison—Amanda Seyfried has something to say.

On May 30, the same day that Seyfried appeared on Good Morning America, the actress who played the former Theranos CEO in the 2022 television series The Dropout discussed Holmes' 11-year prison sentence.

Seyfried expressed her sympathy for Holmes' two little children, William (22 months) and Invicta (3 months), whom she has with Billy Evans. "There are two children at stake here, and as a parent—as a mom—I just don't know," she said.

Seyfried also had a brief statement to make about justice for Holmes. Seyfired said, "Life's not fair, but in many ways, it's fair, for her in particular."

Her remarks came after Holmes arrived at a Bryan, Texas, women's prison camp to begin her sentence for her part in the Theranos fraud case. More than seven years after the Wall Street Journal disclosed that the technology used by her blood start-up company was flawed, she was found guilty of three charges of wire fraud as well as one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. (She entered a not-guilty plea and was exonerated on four further counts.)

According to U.S. Attorney Stephanie Hinds in a statement from 2022, "The guilty verdicts in this case reflect Ms. Holmes' involvement in this widespread investor fraud, and she must now face sentence for her crimes." I thank the jurors for their thoughtful and steadfast service, which made it possible for verdicts to be reached," the judge said.
