Samsung's Galaxy S23 has Gorilla Glass Victus 2, according to Corning and Samsung
Typically, Samsung is the first manufacturer of smartphones to use Corning's latest Gorilla Glass protection. A few months ago, Corning debuted Gorilla Glass Victus 2, promising that it would have the same level of scratch resistance while being more shatterproof. The company has now declared that the Galaxy smartphone will be the first to adopt Gorilla Glass 2.
It indicates that the front (over the screen) and back of the Galaxy S23 series devices are protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This new protective panel, which is made of glass, provides better drop performance on rough surfaces like concrete.
When a phone is dropped from waist height onto concrete, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will not break. Additionally, it is asserted to provide shatter resistance when dropped to head-level height on tarmac.
According to Corning, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 has an environmental focus and has received an Environmental Claim Validation for averaging 22% pre-consumer recycled content. This assertion has been supported by independent research and analysis by UL (Underwriters Laboratories).
