Meri Brown is no longer married to Kody Brown, much like two of her other sister wives.
The reality television matriarch stated that she and Kody have broken their 32-year polygamous union in a sneak peek of the upcoming Sister Wives: One on One episode. The revelation was made after Meri was shown a video of Kody declaring that he does not consider himself "married" to her. The 51-year-old then drew comparisons between their split and that of Christine Brown, Kody's sister's wife, who announced her separation from him in 2021.
That he would be so angry with Christine and say, "She just made this decision," just doesn't make sense to me. She made the choice without our input or conversation. "No, I don't consider myself married to Meri," he then adds. In the sneak preview, which People released on December 15th, Meri made a statement. "He apparently just decided to do it." "He has never said that to me before."
Meri continued by saying that although her tense relationship with Kody appeared to be improving after the family moved to Arizona in 2018, her partner gradually lost interest in their relationship.
She recalled, "Even while we were in Flagstaff, he made me think he was trying." We celebrated our first anniversary in Flagstaff, Arizona, with the phrase "Cheers to a new beginning!" In contrast to the previous anniversary, he said, "I don't even know why you called me Meri." We're not married. "We don't appear to be married."

Meri legally wed Kody in 1990, making her his first wife. The two, who have a son named Leon, 27, divorced in 2014 so that Kody could formally wed Robyn Brown, his fourth wife, while continuing to be spiritually wed to Meri. When it was discovered that Meri had been catfished by a woman posing as a man in 2015, their relationship reached a snag, and Kody and Meri eventually went their separate ways.
