Hearts of Oak, the FA Cup champions, lost their opening game of the ongoing preseason competition, GHALCA G6, 3-1, which was disheartening.
A determined Medeama team overcame the Phobians at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Before the half-hour mark, Medeama scored two goals quickly to get the game off to a strong start.
Darlington Gyan Fosu's shot deflected off Hearts of Oak center-back Emmanuel Tsawortey and into his own net to give them the lead in the 22nd minute.
The Mauves and Yellows concluded the first half with a commanding lead when Medeama scored their second two minutes later through Joshua Agyemang.
After the break, Medeama came back stronger and scored their third goal thanks to Agyemang's second goal of the day.
Hearts of Oak scored the only goal for Hearts of Oak in the 63rd minute.
On Thursday, Hearts of Oak will play Berekum Chelsea, who defeated Medeama 2-0 in their opening match.
