Apple's most recent iOS 16 beta assures you that you cannot correct your errors
Hello

In the most recent developer version of iOS 16, which was made available on Wednesday, Apple included an edit history for the new iMessage editing function (via 9to5Mac). When you press on the "Edited" text that appears below an edited message, all of the edits will appear above the most recent one, allowing you to view the edit history.

Additionally, you can no longer edit a message more than five times. This screenshot of a message I sent to Mitchell Clark and repeatedly changed gives you an idea of how the new edit history appears:

Hello Mitchell

Any further adjustments a friend makes will be displayed as the primary one if you happen to have the edit history of their message open. I observed Mitchell's "No concerns!" shift to a lighter gray in the sample below when he updated it to read, "Okay, I'm just editing this away."

The edit history fills in a significant gap in Apple's initial iMessage editing implementation. Without a history, it would be possible to alter harsh or malicious messages after they were delivered, as Mitchell did in the screenshot above as a joke. Although Apple's little "Edited" remark would let you know something had changed, the original statement would be hidden from view.

Additionally, Apple reduced the window of opportunity to cancel a communication from 15 to just 2 minutes. To create the new widget-like lock screen notifications, developers can now test the Live Activities API starting on Wednesday. Live Activities won't be included in the initial release of iOS 16 for the general public, but Apple says they'll be included "later this year."
