Microsoft has chosen to delay the introduction of its new Windows 10X operating system.

According to reports, the OS will not be released until the end of the year. Insider Brad Sams broke the story.

The reasons were not given, but the company stated that it would instead focus on enhancing Windows 10.

The primary purpose of Windows 10X development was to provide a lighter, more optimised version of Windows 10.

It was designed for one or two-screen tablets. For better performance, the developers reduced the interface and eliminated the "live tile" from the Start menu.

According to The Verge, the new OS was most likely created to compete with Chromebooks, which Microsoft sees as a threat. However, the pandemic continues.
