On launch day, the Apple Vision Pro did not sell out

It came as a surprise that, despite apparently having a very limited supply, the Apple Vision Pro did not sell out on launch day. The gadget is available in three different capacities: the standard 256GB model costs $3,500, the 512GB model costs $3,699, and the 1TB model costs $3,899. On launch day, the 256GB version of the Vision Pro was swiftly backordered until March and even beyond, although the first batch of 512GB and 1TB versions did not run out.

A day following the debut, YouTuber Aaron Zollo (@zollotech) posted that both of the higher-capacity Vision Pro devices remained available for in-store pickup. However, as of the time of writing, all models now showed shipping schedules dropping to 5–6 weeks, and in-store pick-up was no longer possible.

Apple has been creating a lot of anticipation around the Vision Pro, even though it is only available in the US and is being heralded as the beginning of the "era of spatial computing."

Reputable supply chain expert Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple might have only had 60,000–80,000 Vision Pro units available on launch day. Pundits predicted the device would sell out quickly, even at its eye-watering $3,500 beginning price and going up to $3,899 in price.

Rival AR and VR headsets have never been very well-liked, and it seems like Apple might find it difficult to take off despite its strong marketing and brand recognition.

The Vision Pro weighs as much as a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which has raised concerns in the most recent batch of pre-launch media assessments. Apps and other experiences seem to be lacking at launch as well; Apple created just 15 spatialized stock apps for the device.

With companies like Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, and others stating they have no intention to develop spatialized versions of their apps for the gadget, third-party interest is likewise minimal.
