WhatsApp is currently updating its in-progress chat filters
Because competing messaging services like Telegram consistently remain on top of new and appealing improvements, WhatsApp, one of the most popular instant messaging apps in the world, needs to constantly keep rebuilding and upgrading its feature set.
The business was testing new chat filters on the home screen when we first noticed them back in July, making it simple for users to move between unread, personal, business, and all chats.
Some of these filters are currently being renamed in a new beta version of the chat app, providing a better way to distinguish between group and individual chats.
The four filters we first noticed in the WhatsApp beta release in early July are still present, but their names have been changed to be more descriptive of what they accomplish.
It's interesting to see that Contacts and Groups filters have taken the place of Personal and Business, while All and Unread remain.
The latest Android beta of the chat app, v2.23.19.7, contains these changes, according to WABetaInfo, although manually sideloading this version might not display these filters.
Since the Personal filter integrates both group and community discussions and one-on-one interactions, changing Personal to Contacts is essential.
