Smartwatches, earbuds, and even AR glasses come to mind when we think about wearable technology. What about smart rings, though? With rings created to provide us with health and fitness insights without requiring us to carry about an additional screen, Oura has taken it upon itself to develop this market niche. And although it's still a somewhat specialized product, it might not last for very long. Why do you inquire? because it appears that a major company may be entering this market with a unique proposition. If leaks and speculations are to be believed, the Galaxy Ring, Samsung's first smart ring, may already be in development.

These rumors originate in South Korea, which serves as Samsung's domestic market; more precisely, they come from the Korean technology journal The Elec (via SamMobile). According to the article, Meiko, a Japanese business, is Samsung's current supplier for the PCBs it will use in these tiny devices. The business already produces HDI PCBs for Samsung's Galaxy S23 line of gadgets, and it may also produce the PCBs for Samsung's first offering in this modestly expanding market. If it does release, it will undoubtedly be one of Samsung's smallest gadgets; therefore, it's fantastic to see the company entrust the production of these PCBs to a reputable company.

Remember that all of these are only rumors, so you should treat them with caution. Despite this, there seems to be a lot of circumstantial evidence pointing to the presence and impending release of a potential Galaxy Ring. Fun fact: Samsung already had a Galaxy Ring, but it wasn't a smart ring. The moniker was trademarked by Samsung at the start of the year, and a Reddit user recently noticed that Samsung had incorporated support for smart rings in the most recent Samsung Health beta.

Even if all we have are rumors right now, it's something to keep an eye on. In spite of this, plans can change in a matter of hours, and Samsung may decide to scrap the project even if it is actually constructing a smart ring. However, we are very excited about the possibility.
