UPDATE: Andy Cohen announced on December 29 that neither he nor his co-host Anderson Cooper will be partaking in alcoholic beverages on-air this weekend, despite having previously said they would on CNN's New Year's Eve special this year.

"We won't be drinking," he told Page Six, "but we will have a blast."

In an interview with Rolling Stone published on December 28, Cohen reiterated his intentions to drink during the show, saying, "Anderson and I will be the individuals doing it." having a good time while watching CNN, though.

Andy Cohen cannot be ordered to cut down on his drinking.

Cohen has assured fans they can still anticipate a drunken night of fun from him and Anderson Cooper on New Year's Eve, despite CNN saying its special will have less alcohol than in the past.

The Watch What Happens Live anchor informed Rolling Stone that CNN had stated that the correspondents would not be imbibing. "Anderson and I will be the ones having a good time on CNN, but we will be having a good time responsibly."

Cohen continued, "My goal is to make Anderson uncomfortable, and my job is to be the life of the party for everyone watching us on New Year's Eve." And I'll keep acting in that way.

He is undoubtedly a man on a mission. He continued, "I will be partying harder on their behalf if the correspondents don't drink this year."

Following years of drunken antics—such as Don Lemon taking shots live on air or Cohen labeling Ryan Seacrest's New Year's Eve rivals a "bunch of losers"—the network said last month that it will dramatically cut back on the beverages this year.

Cohen didn't make this choice carelessly. "Anderson and I are going to party harder than we have ever partied before on New Year's Eve," he retorted on the WWHL episode from November 16!

But Ryan Seacrest, who is the host of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve on ABC, applauds the decision.

He recently admitted to Entertainment Weekly that he "doesn't recommend drinking when one is on the radio." "I don't know when that became a custom, but CNN, I think it would be wise to step back."
