Jordan Ayew received accolades from Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira for his commitment despite playing an unfamiliar role this season.
This season in the Premier League, Vieira has utilized the 31-year-old Black Star in a pivotal position for the Eagles.
Prior to their Saturday match against the Foxes at King Power Stadium, the former Arsenal midfielder gave an explanation of why he chose to play Ayew in that position, claiming it provides the squad more tactical flexibility.
Jordan is one of the athletes you would describe as a team player. We gave him about 15 to 20 minutes in central midfield during the preseason tour, and he did incredibly well.
After suffering an injury that forced him to be substituted in the 65th minute against Leeds in the previous match, he will almost certainly start against Leicester on Saturday.
"We had a little discussion about that, and he loved to be around those spots as well. So that provided us a little more tactical freedom. But I like to have players in their best positions. Added he.
Ayew has been fantastic for Palace so far this season. He has played 556 minutes in eight outings. He has totaled just one league assist.
On October 9, he made his last Palace appearance in a 2-1 victory over Leeds United. Last season, he played in 31 league games and contributed to three goals and three assists.
