Instagram is down; Twitter is overrun with memes
On Thursday night, multiple users in various locations around the world lost access to the popular photo and video sharing app Instagram. It was confirmed by a large number of users on Twitter, who also reported being unable to post, share, or refresh their Instagram feed or direct messages.
While some users complained that the Instagram app was slow, others said they couldn't access their accounts. Some claimed that despite reinstalling the program and turning on and off their wifi connection, they were still unable to use the Instagram app.
Around 19,000 users were having trouble accessing Instagram last night, which began around 9:32 a.m. PT, according to the outage monitoring website Downdetector.com. According to reports, the service was down for at least an hour (9:30–10:30 AM PT). However, after an hour of disturbance, it was restored.
Instagram's Twitter account also acknowledged the problem and apologized for the inconvenience. "We are aware that some users are experiencing access issues with Instagram. We're working to return everything to normal as soon as we can. I apologize for any inconvenience. Keep it up! #instagramdown " Observe the tweet.
Instagram Comms tweeted an hour later that the problem had been fixed. We're back, too! We fixed the problem that led to today's downtime and are sorry if this inconvenienced you. Instagram did not, however, give a cause for the disruption.
