In response to reports of audio issues with the Studio Display, such as sound dropouts and choppy playback, Apple has published a new software update (via MacRumors). The new update is a revised version of update 15.5, which Apple merely claims "resolves an audio issue," and your Mac must be running macOS Monterey 12.4 or later in order to download and install it.
This week, a document that suggested Apple was aware of something was reported by MacRumors. According to the memo, Apple claimed that the Studio Display's hardware was not to blame for the audio issues. Instead, the company advised customers to unplug the display from power, unplug any accessories or devices, wait 10 seconds, and then plug it back in.
Although it appears to have resolved a problem Parker Ortolani had been experiencing, it is unclear whether this latest version actually fixes the issues people have been reporting. Even though it's a major effort, you can always try unplugging the display like Apple advised if you're still having issues.
There are other concerns with Apple's $1,599 Studio Display in addition to these audio ones. The display's webcam has also received harsh criticism, and although Apple has published a fix to address the issue, it still falls short of expectations.
