The 5.15 GHz overclocked 64-core AMD Threadripper 5995WX CPU establishes a world record for multi-threaded performance |
Although AMD labels its top workstation processor, the Threadripper PRO 5995WX, as "unclockable," the CPU can be overclocked with the proper motherboard and the WRX80 chipset. That is what a Taiwanese overclocker going by the handle TSAIK performed. In his test bench, he used an MSI WS WRX80 motherboard and was able to overclock the CPU to 5.15GHz. It might seem insignificant, but it's actually the frequency of all 64 cores!
A base clock of 2.7GHz and a maximum clock of 4.5GHz are features of the Threadripper PRO 5995WX (with one core loaded).
In other words, the increase is not significant—only 14%—when compared to the maximum rating frequency. However, there has been extensive overclocking, which unavoidably impacted the outcomes.
As a result, the multi-threaded test resulted in 116,142 points, which is a world record according to the HWBot database.
