Location Spotlight: Businesses may now tell you where to locate them on Twitter

Brick-and-mortar businesses may now have important information prominently displayed on their Twitter profiles thanks to a new feature from Twitter. Businesses may add details like store hours and addresses, a Google Map with directions, and a single-tap option to contact a business through phone or Twitter direct messaging with the new Location Spotlight tool, which is broadly debuting today.

Customers might decide, for example, if they have enough time to walk three blocks for coffee before a shop shuts down thanks to Location Spotlight more quickly and easily. While looking up a business straight on a map app could be quicker, the epidemic has shown us that information may not be accurate or current.

Social media evolved as the de facto method for customers to check on the condition of a business because companies had to alter their hours immediately to adhere to local legislation or protect their employees. While sites like Google Maps and Yelp would give businesses less control, sites like Instagram and Twitter make it simple for businesses to immediately communicate with their customers. Some of these functions were present in the About Module that Twitter debuted last year, but only a small number of businesses were able to use them. The About Module is now part of Location Spotlight and accessible to any company with official Twitter accounts.

All of this is a part of a larger suite of business-focused features that Twitter has been developing, including its new Shop Module, which enables select businesses to sell products on Twitter; Shopify store integration; and livestreams a la QVC. Twitter is also developing other features to help grow professional accounts. In addition to the growth of profile spotlights and the impending "Professional Home" performance tracking tool, the business will soon begin holding training sessions on how to use its platform. On your smartphone, take the following actions to add Location Spotlight to your company's Twitter account:

In the Twitter app, navigate to your profile and select Edit profile.

Tap Edit professional profile in the bottom-left corner. (If you already have a professional account, you won't see this.)

You must tap the "Profile Spotlight" part that you'll see.

After selecting the Location toggle switch, input the address, phone number, website, and hours of your company. (This will be made available to everyone on your Twitter profile page.)

When everything is correctly filled out, click Publish in the top-right corner. Customers can now access all the details you supplied, see whether you're open or closed, and receive directions with just one tap.
