According to GHANAsoccernet.com, Asante Kotoko SC and midfielder Umar Bashiru have struck an understanding on a potential re-signing before the 2018 football season.
After leaving Kotoko in July 2019 and joining Karela United in April 2020, Bashiru has been a fixture in the Ghana Premier League.
The 25-year-old center midfielder has played 64 games and scored 17 goals over the course of two seasons, and he has constantly been superb.
Bashiru had a great season the previous year, scoring 13 goals in 33 games and winning five man of the match accolades.
Bashiru, who has previously worked with the Porcupine Warriors, is one of the excellent players Kotoko is hoping to add to its roster to increase the depth of its squad for the upcoming season.
The lanky player joined Kotoko in October 2018 after leaving WAFA SC, but he had to leave the team after only a year.
Currently, Bashiru is a member of the Ghanaian team that is attempting to earn a spot in Algeria for the CHAN tournament the following year.
In the first and second legs of the Black Galaxies' preliminary round matches against Benin, he contributed two assists, helping them win 4-0 overall and advance.
